It's these traditions which keep us bounded to our roots. we must never try to run away from it. Gujiya Recipe basically involves making a dough of all purpose flour and then stuffing it with a mixture of Khoya and semolina along with nuts and coconuts. This is then deep fried in Ghee. Ingredients for Gujiya
- Atta: 400gms
- Suji or Semolina: 1/4th Cup
- Mawa: 2 cups
- Desiccated Coconut: 1/2 cup
- Chopped Cashew Nut: 1/2 cup
- Cardamom Powder - 1/4th tsp
- Ghee - 3-4 tsp
- Powdered Sugar: 2 cups
Method of making Homemade Gujiya
- First of all, you will have to take the Khoya and Suji and cook it in ghee.
- Turn off the flames.
- Now, make a soft dough of the Atta with water and ghee.
- Meanwhile also melt some of the sugar in water to make a sugar syrup or one strand consistency.
- After the Khoya Mixture is ready you can mix in the powdered sugar, desiccated coconuts, cardamom powder and chopped Cashew Nuts in it.
- After it cools down, you can start making the Gujiya.
- First take a lemon sized ball of the dough and turn it in the shape of a cup.
- Now fill in the stuffing inside it.
- Now give it a fold and start sealing it from the sides.
- Make sure to seal properly.
- Now heat ghee in a wok.
- Once the ghee is hot, you can deep fry these Gujiyas.
- After frying, keep them soaked in the Sugar syrup for some time.
- Serve it with desiccated coconuts, rose petals and almond slices.
- Serve it for festivals to your family and friends and enjoy it's delightful taste.
