Norway is a beautiful country. It’s a must visit the country for once in a lifetime experience. Trondheim in central Norway is a fascinating city with excellent shopping and amazing sites and recreational countryside. Though it’s not as famous amongst travelers as other cities in Norway, famous for northern lights and fjords if you are lucky you might get to see them in deep winters sometimes.
Trondheim is the 3rd largest Norwegian city. It was the capital city of Norway until 1217. It’s the main town of the country of Sør-Trøndelag in central Norway. This serves as a popular shopping and cultural destination. It experiences no darkness like most of northern Norway does from mid- May to mid -July. Trondheim experiences mild maritime climate. It’s an area that buzzes with students all over. The people ofTrøndelag are incredibly proud of their local produce.so this city boasts of eateries and restaurant. Though it has a lot of mountains and ridges this still is a great bike city. The ambiance is relaxed and there are very relaxed traffic and beautiful routes throughout the city.

#1. Old Town Bridge(GamleBybro)
You have to visit this place when in Trondheim. This beautiful bridge nicknamed “Portal of Happiness”.

It was built over 300 years ago in 1681. This bridge links the town center to Bakklandet. The bridge crosses the Nidelva River. Once you cross the bridge carefully go to Bakke Bru and take pictures of the old bridge in the background. There are wooden buildings here colored in rainbow hues between two bridges which are about 400 years old. See its mesmerizing reflection in the water on a calm day.
#2.Blakklandet

This is the area along Nidelva River, East of Nidrosdomen Trondheim city center. You may enter through the Old city bridge or through Gateway of Happiness( Lykkens Portal). This is an exciting place filled with Cafes and unique boutiques. In July the urban district has its own mini-festival called Bakklandsdagene. This includes concerts, market fairs, and exhibitions.

#3. Nidaros Cathedral
This is the largest medieval building in Scandinavia. This church has relics of St.Olav, a Norwegian king, and a national hero. He was a Viking Chieftain who went on to become aking and finally a saint after his death.

The most important artwork here is the 14th-century altar frontal, displayed in the ambulatory chapel. It depicts scenes from the legend of St.Olav and his early life. Other than this there is a large cope chest of 1304 and a gilded Silver Chalice from 1520-1530 that also survived the test of time from the Middle age.
#4. Solseiden
Scandic Solseiden called the sunny side in Norwegian is a modern shopping center. This consists of 60 shops, in the buildings of the old shipyard by the docks outside are an open-air bar and restaurant area, which is very popular during summers. Cafe de Milo, Sushimo, San Sebastian Tapas & Vine bar are good places to eat in Scandic Solseiden.

#5. Rockheim
This is a national museum center of pop and rock. this boasts of exhibitions of temporary digital media diversity as a method of presentation. You can listen to various music, bands and concerts here, use touch screens, laser pens, mixer tables and test your guitar skills. Walls here glow in shifting colors and patterns all night.
