Street Food of Pakistan, that you need to try at least once

Pakistan is a paradise for Spicy food lovers. If you are anything like me, and love indulging in spicy food, and enjoy taking a food walk, while you're taste buds are taking you for a joyride the whole time, you'll love the street food of Pakistan, that's actually one of a Kind.

Most people commonly think that Pakistani food is similar to that of Indian food. Well, I agree, there are similarities. However, Pakistani street food is unique to the country. From the Chapeli Kababs to Arbi Parathas to the Bone Marrow Biryanis, Pakistani Cuisine is just astonishingly genius. Here, I have brought out a list of Unique street food of Pakistan, which you must try at least once.

Street Food of Pakistan

#1. Chapeli Kabab

Chapeli Kabab is also a form of Kabab made from minced beef. It's so popular in Pakistan. And honestly the list of street food in Pakistan is incomplete without his amazing dish. Mardan is the most popular place in Pakistan to try these Chapeli Kababs.

#2. Arbi Paratha

Arbi Paratha is nothing like the Parathas you've ever tried. It is also called Murtabak Paratha, and is made using a filling of minced beef and eggs, which is stuffed inside the Paratha and then its folded like a Pattise, and then deep fried.

#3. Kata-Kat

Kata Kat is an Onomatopoeia. This is a popular Pakistani street food, and the best way you'd know where it is served is by the Kat-Kat or Tak Tak sound which is made when the Meat is cut using blades. The popular trend of Tak a Tak variety of dishes in India, actually originated from here.

#4. Sajji

Sajji is a popular dish of Balochistan, which is basically whole chicken or Lamb which is lathered with green papaya paste and then it is roasted in skewers. It is stuffed with rice. The Balochi Sajji Restaurant near Qadaffi Stadium in Lahore sells this popular dish.

#5. Bone Marrow Biryani or Nalli Biryani

Nalli Biryani is a popular dish of Pakistan. This is basically the popular Bone Marrow Biryani. You get the best Nalli Biryani at Ghousia Food And Beef Nalli Biryani in Liaquatabad , Karachi.

#6. Chicken Paratha Rolls

The most popular Dish of Pakistan, Chicken Paratha Rolls are found in Liberty Market in Lahore. It's also found in many other places, but I just loved it here. Don't confuse it with your regular Chicken Rolls or Falafels.

#7. Khoya Kulfi

If you are in the streets of Islamabad or Lahore or Multan during Summers, you'll definitely notice these Kulfis being made from these pots. Give it a try, and you can thank me later.

#8. Candy Floss

We've all had Candy Floss. But when you are shopping in the busy markets of Lahore or Karachi, these fluffy, sweet and soft Candy Floss, literally feels like the best Energy snack.

#9. Zarda Mutanjan

A variety of Sweet Rice which is commonly sold in the streets of Lahore, this is an amazing dish, which is made with rice, and then flavored with saffron, cardamom and variety of dry fruits. This dish is said to be oen fo the favourite dishes of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan is renounded for its Mutanjan.

#10. Grilled Prawns

Karachi is known for it's sea food. In fact many people also suggest that the Sea's forward moving philosophy is also evident in the culture and lifestyle of the city. Grilled Prawns is a must try dish in the streets of Karachi. The giant Tiger Prawns are coated in a spicy and tangy sauce and then grilled. As delightful as it is to watch it, it's even more delightful in taste!

#11. Lassi

A refreshing glass of Lassi is all you need to survive the heat of Pakistan. Yeah it's that good!

#12. Papad

Roaming in the streets of Lahore, you are bound to spot Papads. This snacky and light street food is a must try snack in Lahore, along with a cup of Kashmiri Chai (Tea). Especially from Mohamed Khan in Lahore.

#13. Faluda

Walking in the streets of Karachi on hot summer days, you'll definelty spot these alluring Pink colored drinks, being served. Go ahead and have a sip of that! You'll feel refreshed. Faluda is so commonly sold everywhere in Pakistan. This special Pakistani dessert is made of Vermicelli, Milk, and Rose water, and topped with Jam or ice cream.

#14. Metha Paan

Pakistanis are huge Paan lovers. Be it the Meetha(sweet) paan or the Saada Pan, from riches to rags, everyone seems to be chewing on Paan, especially in Lahore! People here love to relax as they chew on these rolled betel leaves or even the sweeter variant, which is an exotic form of the same. You must try the Meetha Paan of Lahore's Muhammad Umair Khan's shop, known as Kaka Pan Shop or Jaidi Pan Shop. It's one of its own kind.
