Which Age Group Kids can do this?
This "Design your Planet" printable worksheet is ideal for kids in 1st Grade or ages 6-7 years. Why?
- I said it is Perfect for kids of this age because kids can draw their own planet.
- They can give a creative name to their planet.
- And, with a little writing assistance of a teacher or a parent - they can answer few fun questions.
- It's a brilliant way to spark creativity and imagination.
If you've never done it, do it now! I am telling you, kids won't find another fun and creative project more valuable than this.
Can Kids in Grade 2 try this?
Of course, Kids in Grade 2 or Kids between ages 7-8 would love this worksheet and there are a plenty of reasons to love this.
- This project opens up their mind in vivid directions making them think out of the box.
- When kids answer some of these creative questions - like - Are their robots in your planet? Their mental conversation would be something like this - robots, yes... There can be robots. They'll instantly imagine a planet where robots are doing all the work. Like a Science Fiction movie. Imagine they take a leap straight into 2050 😳

How this is a "Learning Activity" as well as "Creative Project"
I will show you why I call this project a perfect blend of "Education" as well as "creativity".
- When they answer questions like - How many moons are there in your planet? - They are already learning that apart from Earth, there are other planets with more than one moon.
- When they answer this question - Distance of your Planet from the Sun - indirectly they are creating a distance of their planet from the Sun. Which makes it easier for them to remember the distance of other planets from the Sun.
- When they are answering questions about the temperature in their planets - they are learning about how temperature in each and every planet is different. This is pure Science.
- At the same time when they are answering questions like can you float in there? They are imagining a planet without Gravitational force - this is Pure Science, isn't it?
- On the other hand, when they are answering questions like - What is the Most Popular Holiday in your Planet? This is pure creativity. Something they'll have to think beyond what they know.
- When they answer question like - Can the Plants in your Planet talk? They're automatically, thinking in a very creative way. In their mind they are imagining a planet where there are robots and plants talking to each other. This is purely a boost for their imagination.
I have created the questions in a way that this makes them use both the left as well as the right part of their brain.

I would say - it's one of the best learning, educational, as well as fun and creative projects for kids.

Supplies you will need for this Homeschool Science Worksheet
There is one page to download. I would prefer you download it using a high quality color ink jet printer to make it attractive and appealing to kids.
This is a A4 Notebook Size sheet which is approximately - 8.37 inches x 11.59 inches. So get your A4 Sheet which is exactly 8.5x11 inches.
- Get a Pencil so that kids can write and answer the questions.
- You can get them crayons, color pencils or markers to draw the planet.
Here's How to proceed with this Space Activity for Kids

Step 1: First kids will write the date and the name of their planet on the sheets.
Step 2: Next, They will answer few Scientific questions like The Distance from Sun, How Many Moons are there in your Planet, Size and Diameter of your Planet - just to make them think in a Scientific way.
Assistance/Guidance - If you're doing this with Kids in Grade 1, I would recommend you explain them the meaning of diameter, Moon, Sun, and Distance while they write about this.
Step 3: Next they'll color the temperature of their planet. If it's Hot - they'll color it with a red color pencil in the Hot Thermometer.
If it's cold, they'll color it with blue color pencil in the Cold Thermometer.
Step 4: Next, they'll draw a picture (imaginary of course) of their own planet. Give them color pencils or washable markers for this step.
Step 5: Does it rain - Snow, Diamonds or Lava. It's a MCQ kind of question. Whichever one they choose, they'll have to circle it with a color pencil or a marker.
Step 6: How Long is a Day? They'll answer either in Earth Days or Hours.
Bonus Quiz - Do you know that a Day in Venus is longer than a year?
Step 7: Can you float in there? A basic yes or no question just for their imagination.
Step 8: What is the Most popular sport in your planet? Again a pure fun question for imagination and creativity.
Step 9: Does your Planet - Glow, Spin Fast or Make Noise? Kids can circle the correct answer using a marker or a color pencil or crayon.
Step 10: What is the Most Popular Holiday in your Planet? They can write one word and then you can discuss it with them, like how they celebrate that holiday?
Step 11: Are there robots in your Planet? A basic yes or no question. Also ask them to name a few robots when you discuss.
Step 12: Can the Plants talk? A fun question where they answer yes or no and then you take it a step further by discussing about what they talk and the language in which they talk, and maybe they can mimic a Sunflower or a rose plant talking? What would they say?
Step 13: How many rings are there in your planet? A fun activity because kids are generally attracted towards rings. So, counting or numbering the rings is going to be fun.
Step 14: What do they Eat? Now since its their own planet - they'll probably choose food items they love or they hate. Let that be their call.
Step 15: Do they have any Superpowers? What are they? I love this question. Let them answer in their own creative way. You can discuss about that Superpower and let their imagination flow.
Step 16: What does the flag or the symbol of their planet look like? Another creative question for them to explore and you can give them color pencils or markers to draw.
Don't forget - Ask kids to sign at the bottom of the page or behind the page so that you can identify it later on.
