Decorating your living room doesn't always require over priced architects and interior designers. Create your own airy and atmospheric room with an eclectic mix of creativity and ingenuity.Choose your favourite color and play with the shades of them in your home shaped colour palette.
Use the tips below to make your living room a cute little sacred space.
- Neutral toned curtains
Use light colours for your curtains like printed peach white or sky-blue. This will create a serenely neutral living room. Make sure that you use good fabric with fine texture and designs and playful prints on it. Avoid using dark colours as it absorbs most of the lighting of the place and makes your room look dull and bland. The best part about using them is, it'll gloriously colour your room at different hours of the day with the changing colours of the sky. From crimson orange hues to lilac purple. This will help you from shutting out the window, from wind or heat and also use the space to redefine the look without much fuss. This shall keep your room airy and cool always.
2. Change your coffee table
Use a small sized movable coffee table.
It's smart and elegant and doesn't occupy a lot of space like the classic wooden centre tables. This is easy to move and gives a chic look. Make this show-stopper coffee table or stool the star of the room. Play with marine blue or vintage colours.
Use colourful marbles or baby-sized handicrafts as the centrepiece.
3. Sunny Disposition
Use small light coloured pots and plant ferns or
artificial smartly trimmed medium sized bamboos. These would soothe your eyes and incorporate the crisp touch of freshness. Anchor your corner by a tall Euphorbia plant, which is similar to a Cactus but needs less sunlight. If you love small and cute flowers use cotton candy or orchids. If you've an appetite for big, bright flowers try shimmering daffodils, sunflowers and carnations.
4. Carpets and RugsAdd in some stylish block printed and brightly hued medium sized carpets.
Play with the palette of water colours like classic red, white green and blue. It will create an enveloping vibe so that your family can relax together. If you have a bright room use creamy sofas and a jute rug to calm a bright palette. Put it in the centre of the room. Try choosing the base colour of the carpet as wooden brown or classic black or blood maroon. This would dazzle up your space.
5. Corners
Create your very own favourite corner in the house and play with dynamic coloured lampshades. You can use 1950's Italian glass lamps and vintage Elephant garden stools turned accent tables. If you wish you could add Tripod lamp along with a cocktail table in your corner. Adorn it with one of your childhood photograph in a chic frame or abstract coloured handicrafts to make it your own spectacular corner of the house.
6. Seating-zones
Use low seating couch with dark seating covers. Select furniture that would reflect light and create a painted scene of opulence. Align them with the carpet so that when you have many guests people can even sit down on the carpet and relax by the couch.Add the Hollywood at Home arm-chair in the corner and have cushions in elegant fabrics. Try placing them in the centre of the room.
7. Cushions
Use as many comfortable and spongy cushions you want. Add in some splash of colourful or meticulously handmade cover for them. Another incredible idea would be to use light coloured cushions with big bright polka dots or offbeat shapes and stripes on it.
8. Portrait Gallery
Use archaic copper or glistening golden painted metallic God figures of Lord Ganesha or Buddha to make a statement.Add a simple backdrop for the Portuguese starburst mirror. Hang honey-combed or inverted triangle shaped shelves to add art to your walls. Make a personalised pet art wall putting up your child's crayon imaginations framed in a classic design or make a photo gallery adding all of your fond memories together in same coloured frames arranged in myriad patterns of your choice. Use French mirrors and antiqued mirrored tops. Add life sized paintings that help break-up the large expanses of the wall.
9. Wall-Texture
Add natural texture with pops of colour for an eclectic and relaxed ambience.
10. Side-Couch
Add a velvet side-couch which is neatly trimmed and on sober tone like Barrington's green.
11. Nautical Inspiration
To get good water and sky views use old-fashioned roll-up curtains or modern solar shades that lower with the press of a button to darken the room for T.V. watching.
