My Daddy - A Poem by Srirup Mazumdar

No matter where life takes you

I’ll always walk by your side.

Through rough tides and smooth rides,

We’ll Sail through Life,

One step at a time.

with Our Love as our Guiding light.

Through laughter bright, and grief that grips me tight...

I know that, you’ll always - be by my side.

A hand that holds me, a heart that feels me..

A Soul that touches me.

I’ll be Forever grateful to you.

My Hero, my Guide, my Teacher, my Light -

I LOVE YOU DADDY

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

So, there you go guys. This is the poem that I wrote. I hope you liked it. Now, to make this more fun I have turned it into a craft.

I have created a free printable PDF that you can download (google drive link below).

What you'll Get

Down below you will get an option to download this Printable in 2 sizes - A4 (8.27 inches by 11.69 inches) and A3 (11.7 inches x 16.5 inches).

Within Each Printable, you will have the Poem written on the right and the footprint of Dad printed on the left.

Below each footprint you get the word "Love" written on it.

What you'll need? (Supplies I recommend)

  1. Since you'd be stamping your kid's footprint on this - so I would suggest you get it printed on cardstock paper. It's sturdy and durable.
  2. Next get a pen or marker to write the kids name below the letter.
  3. Printer - Obviously you can skip this and get it printed in the print shop.
  4. Paint or washable ink pad for child's footprint.
  5. [OPTIONAL] I recommend that you get this frame from Amazon, where you get A3 and A4 Picture Frame with and without Mat. Super useful, I tell you!
  6. [OPTIONAL] Wet Wipes for cleaning the feet after the craft.
  7. [OPTIONAL] Get this cute Kids Apron for Painting.

And, that's it...

How to Make this Father's Day Keepsake (Step by Step Instructions)

Step 1 - Download and Print the Design (Google Drive Link attached below). Tip Use heavier paper, so that the Paint doesn't bleed through.

Step 2 - Prepare the workspace. Cover it with a Newspaper or Mat.

Step 3 - Apply a thin layer of washable paint to the bottom of your child's foot. You can use a sponge brush or simply dab it gently with your fingers so the paint is even.

Step 4 - Carefully place your child's foot onto the center of the Dad's footprint. Press gently from heel to toe.

one of the most metaphorical step of this craft - It is literally a child stepping into their father's footprint and learning to navigate through life by falling into his steps.

Step 5 - Lift the foot straight up. And allow the footprint to dry completely. This might take up to 15-30 minutes depending on the kind of paint you are using.

Step 6 - Write your child's name under "Love" using a Pen or a Marker. You can also add their age and the Date if you want.

Once the paint is dry, frame it and Gift it to Dad for Father's Day.

I know it can get a little messy, especially when working with kids.

Don't worry. Take as many print outs as you want. It's free...

Pro Tips to Make it really Good

I know you will find printable like these all over the internet. And you are free to download the one that you like.

But hear out these Pro tips. It's worth 1-minute of your time.

  1. Always use a pastel shade washable paint pad. Pastel shades contrasts well with the light gray footprint of the Dad. What are some colors I recommend - Baby blue, Baby pink, lavender, mint green etc.
  2. Try practice print on a scrap book at least once before going for the exact craft.
  3. When you're doing this with multiple kids, label each printable.
  4. Do not forget to Laminate the printable before framing them.

How Can you Make this Keepsake - "Extra Special"

Here's where the creativity of your child comes into play and this turns this into an extraordinary Personalized Father's Day Gift.

  1. Ask Kids to write one line below or behind the page. It can be anything - Dad, I love you to the Moon and Back or I'll always walk in your footsteps etc.
  2. Encourage kids to decorate the blank space around the poem with their drawings, stickers, colors and more. They can draw hearts, stars, balloons or a Father's Day Moustache or anything that they like.
  3. Since you are using washable Paint for footprint, you can also use the painted thumbs of kids to make - "Thumbprint hearts" in the corner.
  4. Print a small photo of the child and Dad and glue it on the side or pin it to the side.
